MUKTI: Anti-Child Trafficking Programme, PAN India
FXBIS has been implementing the Mukti project in the state of Manipur, West Bengal and Delhi to reduce the incidence of trafficking in persons for commercial sexual exploitation and Child Sexual Abuse in India. The purpose of the project is to reduce the incidence of trafficking in persons for commercial sexual exploitation, particularly of children, in 3 trafficking source states (Manipur and West Bengal) and 2 destination state (Goa and Delhi), India thereby intervening strategically in source, transit and destination with multi partners running the same programme. The comprehensive community-driven intervention aims to empower local communities, institutions, adolescents and district administration and build their capacities to effectively counter human trafficking and address child sexual abuse. Over its course of three years, the project reached out to more than 20,000 stakeholders including children through awareness generation, more than 5000 stakeholders including child protection actors and children through training and capacity building and advocacy, around 250 victims providing direct assistance through rescue, rehabilitation and repatriation services. The first phase of the project ended in December 2019 while Mukti II is being implemented since February 2020 in Manipur, West Bengal and Delhi with a more comprehensive implementation plan in Manipur by activating systems and structures and empowering them at the state level. Mukti II aims to reach out to over 1 lakh stakeholders till 2023.
